Basically software that once digital audio recordings of IRS have been processed removes the audio IR but retains the rooms reverb characteristics in lay terms
This can be applied to recording studio recorded music productions to create special context to the music
Or post production sound for film TV & games
Of note is the recent news worthy study undertaken by Trevor Cox
Who points out in his excellent book Sonic Wonderland, of the few audio related entries into the Guiness book of world records, the loudest sounds are entered alongside the longest recorded reverb time, significant simply due to their equivalence to biggest and longest
Thought to be the Hamilton Masoleum, measured from the sound of the bronze covered doors being slammed producing a reverb time of 15 seconds
However Trevor earlier this year recorded another significant man-made space, a world war 2 fuel tank
The world record for the longest reverb ever discovered has been shattered by a hidden oil storage tanks in Rossshire, built into a mountain side above the town of Allness, North of Inverness
Measured at 75 seconds with a starters pistol providing the IR
The average living room measures around 0.5 seconds, a concert hall 1.2
The tank is the length of 2 football fields, 9m wide, 13m high
