Re-imagining Space
Perth Archaeology Month IR processed performances: Perth Museum
Re-imaging Space is/was a collaborative project between Dr. Paul Oliver and Nick Green - the project took DIY and improvisational performance, Paul's area of research interest and IR recording in heritage sites and their consequent potential use and turned them into a public performance. This one off session for Perth Museum and Galleries' Archaeology Month festival featured a talk by Paul and Nick followed by a performance with invited guest musicians, Aileen Ogilvie - vocals and harmonium, Pete Honeyman - double bass, Ronnie Goodman -percussion, Paul Oliver - acoustic guitar, Nick Green - vocals and engineering. Each performance piece was inspired by the acoustics and images taken from various heritage sites in and around the city of Perth. Each performer was processed as to sound like the reverb from their respective spaces as detailed below. The final ensemble piece featured all of the convolution reverbs which as might be expected started to sound acoustically chaotic.
